Summary:
The raising of xenophobia and racism is a very relevant phenomenon. Related messages are especially attractive for young people, a age in which extreme positions are considered a natural critical attitude to affirm the personality and to gain a position in society. These assumptions come from a very common idea that attributes to immigrants and refugees the responsibility for unemployment and social insecurity. It is also a common view to consider the religious differences and the presence of Islamic believers in the society a threat to the national identity and traditions.The project LIFE TWO, that transfers a pedagogic method based on the Inquiry approach already experimented in primary schools, intends to test the method in secondary schools and to propose a strategy for a counter-narration, putting in action educative measures addressed to launch e critical thinking process for leading the students to see the interfaith societal context as a profound resource for their personal growth. The project LIFE TWO will be also transferred and experimented in Countries where the religions at historical level have represented an element of social transformation. The project also proposes the development of a biographic survey that will give indications about how the students see the religious differences and the multicultural approach in their classes and group of mates. The project intends to give birth to a new approach towards multiculturalism based on a role-play game, a didactic tool that can allow the students to reflect on their approach to the differences enjoying an imaginary trip across fantastic worlds that the players will have to explore. The project LIFE TWO will propose also a deep and disseminated piloting phase in a very relevant number of secondary schools in 8 countries.
