Project Details
Description
The InterRecycle project promotes the use of intelligent robotic systems that automate the sorting process of recyclable materials / waste, in order to boost the productivity of industrial material recovery units, which until now rely mainly on manual sorting.
Two separate systems for sorting recyclable materials will be developed, one in Heraklion, Crete, at the facilities of the Unified Waste Management Association of Crete (ESDAK), and one in Nicosia, at the facilities of the non-profit waste management company GreenDot, achieving direct benefits for the two island regions.
The benefits that will arise from the installation of the new robotic systema are expected to be multidimensional and will have environmental, social and economic extensions. The Social Impact Study will be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, the evaluation criteria of social reciprocity will be determined, while in the second phase, the Social Reciprocity of the value of the project will be measured.
