A biography of the Greek composer, who was born on 12 May 1829 in Zakynthos, and who is the first Greek opera composer; placing him in the historical and cultural context of the 19th century. A fascinating portrait emerges a composer and the relations between West and East, present and past, modernity and tradition, that shaped the culture of modern Greece.
