Abstract

In this work a fast method is presented, for the approximate estimation of the near field in the vicinity of mobile Base Station Antennas (BSA) comprised of reflector type unit cells. The method is based on the substitution of each unit cell of the BSA with a uniformly excited rectangular aperture of suitable dimensions, so that both have equal half power beam widths in the two main radiation planes. The method utilizes the fast numerical evaluation of the near field of uniformly excited apertures, and comes as an enhancement to similar synthetic based model.
