Abstract

The primary mission of most academic institutions is to generante and transmit knowledge. Such knowledge is oftentimes originating from research work and other times from the collaborations of academics with other academics as well as with the students. Each academic carries his/her own knowledge, accumulated over the years of personal education and expanded by life and work experiences. This paper advocates a need to document and re-use, as well as facilitate the evolution and expansion of the knowledge which relates to the learning process. Such effort would include the identification of the resources used as input for learning, the documentation of the learning process itself, the establishment and materialization of quality metrics, and the capture of best practices, all done within the context of a collaborative teaching environment.
