N2 - Crises are often the driving force of change, be it technological, social, economic or other. And it is the most adaptive, reflexive, resilient and innovative companies that survive such conditions, in some cases even using them as springboards for development and growth at the product or market levels (Vrontis et al., 2012). And while crises range in nature, geography and duration, and are often contextually unique, they also share commonalities in terms of their conditions, demands and challenges on businesses. In this chapter, we make an attempt to contextualise crisis, through an alternative interpretation of its characteristics.
