note = "Funding Information: To examine the challenges and opportunities from emergency remote learning, the international research center CARDET conducted a study to understand how distance education was implemented during school closures from March to May 2020c. The study was implemented by CARDET with the support of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute and the approval of the Ministry of Education Culture, Sports and Youth (MOECSY) in Cyprus. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analyzed. Findings and reflections provide recommendations for better preparing and supporting educators for teaching remotely in times of need. The collection of data was related to the acceptable practices that emerged, the tools used, and the challenges/difficulties teachers, students, and parents faced during this period. This paper is a brief case study reflecting on the lessons learned. Publisher Copyright: {\textcopyright} 2021 International Council for Educational Media.",
