Empowering women in tech: Policy pathways for inclusive European entrepreneurship

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a remarkable increase in research focused on women entrepreneurs, aiming to understand their influence on national economic development. This chapter utilizes liberal feminist theory and explores Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 8 and 10 to highlight the significance of women’s entrepreneurship in promoting sustainable growth in Europe. The key argument is that achieving gender equality is essential for sustainable development, as outlined in the SDGs, which advocate for equal opportunities for all. Addressing gender disparities fosters women’s entrepreneurial initiatives and enhances overall sustainability in Europe. Evidence shows that women’s entrepreneurial activities vary significantly across the continent. A positive entrepreneurial mindset is crucial for prospective self-employed individuals. Furthermore, economically empowering women not only contributes to reducing gender inequality but also promotes a fairer distribution of wealth, aligning closely with the objectives of SDGs 8 and 10.
