Abstract

This paper presents the implementation and application of high-order (up to 5th-order accurate), weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) schemes on mixed-element, 3D un- structured grids. The method is based on the construction of non-linear high-order polyno- mials that approximate point-wise values of the conservative variables in the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Results are presented for the laminar flow over a semi-infinite flat-plate at zero incident and the inviscid transonic flow over the ONERA-M6 wing. The accuracy of the developed schemes is demonstrated through comparisons with analytical and experimental data.
