Abstract
Vitamin D deficiency from early ages has been implicated in the aetiology of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in adulthood. Low levels of vitamin D occur due to reduced intake as well as because of geographical location. Early intervention with vitamin D supplementation when necessary or fortification with staple foods could be other approaches towards prevention of CVD.
