N2 - This book is a collection of ten chapters which describe the processes that attend to AVRR in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Spain, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom. All chapters are organised into six areas. There are, introduction, national legislation regarding return procedures of irregular migrants, assisted voluntary returns policy and practice, practical issues related to the return process, sustainability of the voluntary return programmes and concluding remarks. The processes described in these ten chapters reveal that there is a great variability across countries and that the EU needs to enforce a uniformed procedure in order to ensure high quality and sustainability of AVRR in all EU member states.
