Abstract

Ultrasound has a wide range of applications in aesthetics. Depending on the frequency, intensity, or the selected pulse we can change its properties. It can be used for most simple applications such as scaling and increasing skin’s permeability to substances, up to reduce the local thickness and skin tightening, as an alternative of an invasive method. (48, 49) Keratolysis is an essential and necessary aesthetic procedure for the efficiency of the sessions to be implemented on the skin. There are mechanical and chemical applications of keratolytic agents to achieve keratolysis. (50, 51) Ultrasound achieves excellent effects while side effects are absent. Increase of percutaneous absorption is investigated in Cosmetology. Phonoforesis successfully leads to increased percutaneous absorption.
