Abstract
This article presents the current trends in modeling and simulation of transitional and turbulent flows using the state-of-the-art of large eddy simulation (LES) computational strategies. The fundamentals of both the explicit and implicit LES strategies are presented followed by indicative examples showing the applicability of these approaches. Issues relating to numerical uncertainties and validation are also discussed.
