N2 - Digital technologies are transforming workforce management and impacting practically every aspect of organisations. The need for digital transformation (DT), that is, the ability to develop digital capabilities aligned with workforce needs, is high on the agenda to tackle volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous challenges in operations research. Surprisingly, little is known about digital transformation in this context that creates and captures value. Thus, this study shows how mapping workforce management opportunities and challenges within the DT environment can help operations thrive in the digital world.
