Abstract

The design of microstrip antenna array systems with high gain and low side lobe level are presented. The arrays are embedded in structures of multiple dielectric layers which act as partially reflecting surfaces. Alternatively, a stacked dielectric layer configuration is proposed, which works as a Chebyshev multisection transformer. The control of the power gain and of the side lobes is obtained by appropriate selection of the dielectric constants, the heights and the number of the dielectric layers.
