Orthogonal method for the geometry synthesis of a linear antenna array

Abstract

The orthogonal method for the geometric synthesis of a linear antenna array is presented. An exact expression for the array factor of a linear array with N elements is given. The array pattern is perturbed to obtain the change in the array factors. The orthogonal method yields and orthogonal basis which spans the array factor.
