Abstract

The development of a parallel multi-level method for the solution of the compressible axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations is presented. The parallelization is based on the domain decomposition method. The numerical algorithm is implicit and the solution of the system of equations is obtained by an unfactored procedure using Gauss-Seidel relaxation. A theoretical model for the prediction of the parallel efficiency is also presented. Validation of the parallelization is examined for viscous compressible flows. The efficiency of the parallel solver is investigated on different parallel systems and for different grid sizes, comparing with the single processor solution.
