Abstract

Eye-liner micropigmantation is increasing in popularity, this article examines some of the reasons why Aesthetics have experienced adverse outcomes for their clients and the causes. Εye-liner micropigmentation is the makeup tattoing treatment that Aesthetics needs to excersise the greatest care when performing to ensure that the client does not has an adverse outcome. In addition to the delicate nature of the eye lid and the eye itself, eye-liner micropigmentation is the most challenging and potentially the most dangerous for removal. Our sense of sight is the most precious and the eye-liner micropigmentation. Aesthetics should never be complacent when apply micropigmentation anywhere near the clients eye. This article is not intended as a ‘’how to guide ‘’ is a general discussion of the potential complications with eye-liner micropigmentation and the the possible causes because the skin on the eye lid is the thinnest on the body. Considering the popularity of eye liner micropigmantation the number of reported complications that we found within the medical literature were lower than we expected. Potential complications can be grouped into 6 main areas; 1. Chemical injury to the eye and/or supporting structures 2. Mechanical injury to the eye and/or supporting structures 3. Pigment migration 4. Infections 5. Short term irritation to the eye and/or supporting structures 6. Chronic eye/lid irritation.
