N2 - Each year, prescription errors contribute to billions of deaths and illnesses as well as wasted expenses. Thus, a need arises for alternatives to illegible handwriting, incorrect dosing, and missed drug-drug or drug-allergy reactions. PINCLOUD ePrescribing application constitutes such an alternative and it is part of PINCLOUD, a project that aims to provide integrated eHealth services for personalized medicine. PINCLOUD ePrescribing utilizes leading-edge technologies, such as cloud computing and web services, in order to provide computer-based electronic generation, transmission and filling of a medical prescription. Moreover, it provides assistance to the prescribing physician by means of an end-to-end personalized disease monitoring and medical data service which facilitates timely and secure access to a wide range of clinical, non-clinical and homecare patient data.
