Abstract
An effort is made to resolve the problem of interaction between a metallic post coated with dielectric and microwaves, within a rectangular waveguide. The analysis is based on the mode matching technique. The results can be used in some interesting applications such as the post being used as a band-pass or band-reject filter as well as in microwave amplification.
