Abstract

Laser excitation spectra of the A′5Δ-X5Π (0,0) and (1.1) bands of CrO have been recorded in the region 11 750-12 000 cm-1. Each band was found to consist of five distinct subbands. corresponding to the fise case (a) allowed spin components of a 5Δ-5Π transition. The present data are combined with FTIR emission data for the A5Σ+-X5Π (0,0) band system recorded by Cheung et al. [J. Mol. Spectrosc.104, 315-336 (1984)], enabling the determination of improved molecular constants for the X5Π and A5Σ+ states as well as the first set of reliable constants for the A′5Δ state. Several rotational perturbations in the upper A′5Δ are noted. Possible candidates for the perturbing states are discussed.
