Abstract

GridStat is a specialization of the publishsubscribe paradigm that takes advantage of the semantics of periodic updates of cached sensor data to provide data delivery with a per-subscriber rate, latency, and redundant paths. In critical infrastructures, like the electric power grid, it is of paramount importance that the measurements which are used for control and monitoring of the infrastructure are all taken at the same time. One of the core features of GridStat is the multicast with temporal rate filtering forwarding logic of temporal related variables. This provides for the possibility of taking a snapshot of the state of a set of variables that are published at the same time and deliver them to the subscribers with per subscriber specified QoS.
