Abstract

Numerical simulations have been performed for the flow over an oscillating NACA0015 aerofoil using wall-distance-free two-equation eddy-viscosity models. The numerical simulation corresponds to the experimental work by Piziali and comparisons are presented between experimental data and numerical results for unsteady flows over aerofoils under dynamic stall conditions. The calculations reveal that improvements in turbulence modelling are necessary in order to capture accurately the hysteresis loops of the dynamic stall phenomenon.
