Stress and its impact on health and women's appearance

Abstract

Stress has been described as the relationship between the person and the environment that is appraised by the person as taxing or exceeding his or her resources and endangering his or her well-being. A lot of research has been done on coping, personality and cognitive resources, as well as, physical fitness in order to cope with the daily stressors that can make stress harmful for our self. We will investigate four big parts of stress: (i) stressors which activate the body's stress mechanisms, (ii) the experience of stress and the persons' cognitive strategies on stressors, (iii) coping resources based on personality and (iv) body's stimulation and reactions to stressors. Additionally, we will see how perceived levels of stress, affect women's appearance through various ways, such as smoking, eating unhealthy food, creating skin problems and affecting hormonal system. As a result, coping strategies play a very important role in women's life and good evaluation of stressful situation is the key for being healthy inside and outside.
