Abstract
Time sharing computer systems have added a new dimension to the utilization of statistical and mathematical models for decision-making. In forecasting, time-sharing can be used successfully to make applications more significant and to bring them within the CPU of non-specialists. This paper describes a new forecasting system which enables the user to act on the computer and to develop and test the appropriate forecasting methods sequentially. This interactive system has been used to teach forecasting methodologies and to apply these methods to real situations.
