Abstract
Blood Pressure (BP) follows a diurnal variation which is regulated by the sleep-wake cycle. BP levels show a peak in the early morning and substantially decline with sleep during night-time. Basing the timing of administration of anti-hypertensive medications on this circadian rhythmicity may be beneficial in controlling BP in hypertensive patients. Here, Motamedian and Jovanovic† examine the role of chronotherapy in management of hypertension.
