Abstract

Presently, Tuberculosis continues to remain a global health problem. Tuberculosis can affect people of all ages, mainly occurring in developing coun-tries. The present study aims to investigate the TB infection rate in Cyprus within a convenience sample of students at a University in Cyprus. The majority of participants showed a negative result in the Mantoux test whilst only 3 participants (1.9 %) presented a positive result. As observed in the current study, the majority of participants were not vaccinated against tuberculosis. Possibly, an effective strategy in controlling the spread of the disease would be to conduct a Mantoux test only in people originating from high-load countries.
