Abstract

Finally, the seventh chapter, “Urban Safety and Security Development: Dubrovnik, Valletta, and Limassol”, focuses on the proactive planning and management of city resources aimed at fulfilling the developmental and social needs of residents and visitors through coordinated action across various urban domains. Adopting the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime's Urban Safety Governance Approach, the chapter analyses how Dubrovnik, Valletta, and Limassol manage urban safety and security by understanding the interplay of localized risk factors and external threats. It examines their approaches to identifying local challenges, developing integrated strategies, enhancing the capacity of relevant institutions, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, ultimately answering the question of how safe and secure each city is and how they influence the creation of a safe urban space.
